When Tania Isenstein, owner of Camp Canine and chair of Animal Lighthouse Rescue\u2019s board, flew down to visit El Faro, she packed the essentials: sunscreen, snacks and a stack of empty dog carriers. (Spoiler: they did not stay empty.)<\/p>\n
The Camp Canine blog followed the whole adventure. Tania and the ALR team toured our sanctuary, met about fifty dogs in different stages of recovery, and survived a 100-degree photoshoot full of very uncooperative (and occasionally poopy) models. A tip about a Walmart parking lot turned into three brand-new rescues: Wally, Laura and Ashley.<\/p>\n
By the end of the trip, Zoe (formerly Tiny), Daisy, Arthur and Mario were on their way to New York, and several were adopted soon after. The story also shows what our team was up against after Hurricane Mar\u00eda, when our capacity dropped from 110 dogs to about fifty and storms meant bringing dogs home to wait out the weather.<\/p>\n
