Meet Enzo and Penny, two El Faro alumni who prove that best friends really are forever. They grew up together and were rescued side by side eight years ago from a hoarding situation, thanks to El Faro and our partners at Animal Lighthouse Rescue.
Today they’re living their best New York life: begging for treats, “hunting” turtles and geese, sharing ice cream, road-tripping upstate, relaxing at Camp Canine and going out on Valentine’s Day dates. Some couples have all the luck.
Now Enzo is running for Honorary Dog Mayor of NYC, with Penny as his potential First Lady. Team “Penzo” promises to Unleash the Future by encouraging adoptions and making NYC the best city possible for dogs, which, according to their platform, means plenty of off-leash playtime and treat time for all. We may be a little biased, but they have our vote.
Two satos who started out with nothing now have each other, a loving family and maybe even a mayor’s office. That’s the kind of happy ending we live for.
