Where It Began
A Lighthouse for Lost Paws
Since 2001, El Faro de los Animales has provided shelter and care for abandoned dogs and cats on Puerto Rico’s southeastern coast. As a limited-admission shelter, we give animals a safe place to heal, receive veterinary care, and find loving homes.
Rescue, Rehome, Rejoice
Growing Together
Today, El Faro is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that has served Puerto Rico for more than 25 years. Through hurricanes, earthquakes, and a pandemic, our mission endured. Along the way, more than 3,000 animals found their way home.
The Light Stays On
Care That Heals
We rescue, rehabilitate, and protect abandoned dogs and cats through shelter, food, veterinary care, adoption, and transport partnerships. For animals who need lifelong care, El Faro remains a place of safety.
